This is an unnecessarily complicated and frustrating pattern. Ripping it out and doing something else.forensanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-7314955616464347842006-11-29T17:39:00.000-05:002006-11-29T17:39:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03259636511521618582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-62549867272501538332006-11-29T08:53:00.000-05:002006-11-29T08:53:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-16351450164686128172006-11-28T12:59:00.000-05:002006-11-28T12:59:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03259636511521618582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-71041677515358846152006-11-28T12:22:00.000-05:002006-11-28T12:22:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.yarnophiliachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01081042266486544795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-22188582717209943232006-11-28T11:30:00.000-05:002006-11-28T11:30:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03259636511521618582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-80157849062130774252006-11-15T09:19:00.000-05:002006-11-15T09:19:00.000-05:00Thanks for posting the corrections! Thanks for posting the corrections!Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03259636511521618582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-33237360156298728192006-11-15T07:05:00.000-05:002006-11-15T07:05:00.000-05:00Hi eleanor -- Yes, it is correct that you want to ...Hi eleanor -- Yes, it is correct that you want to do the heel on needles 1 and 4. I have clarified (I hope!) the directions on the pattern to knit across needle one, turn, purl back, and then begin the heel flap pattern. Maybe I should leave the pattern writing to the professionals? Sorry about that!!yarnophiliachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01081042266486544795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-58442326432705476502006-11-15T04:05:00.000-05:002006-11-15T04:05:00.000-05:00Hi we've been talking about this pattern over on a...Hi we've been talking about this pattern over on a livejournal knitting community, where one of us has just got to the heel flap.

I've just commented:

Normally I'd expect it to ask you to do the heel flap using the stitches on needles 1 & 2, not 1 & 4. But since it says 1 & 4 then in this case I guess you'd finish the previous row (1,2,3,4) in pattern, knit along needle 1 and count that "half" row as row 1, then purl back along 1 & 4 as row 2. I don't think it's going to matter much if you've done it on needle 1 & 2 instead, but it might be a bit fiddley to get back into pattern after you've finished the heel.

Is this correct?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-41817222706079964902006-11-14T18:56:00.000-05:002006-11-14T18:56:00.000-05:00SHannon -- oh my goodness! that is a huge error! ...SHannon -- oh my goodness! that is a huge error! so sorry, but I am thrilled you pointed it out. the point you are at in the directions should actually state that they are for turning the heel -- the heel flap was omitted! I will fix the blog, but in the meantime, here it is for you...

row 1: (slip 1, k1) repeat to end
row 2: slip 1st stitch, purl all across to end
Continue in this manner for a total of 34 rows, ending on a purl row.

This is where you would start off with the other directions as previously written. this is the short row section where you will see the heel start to turn, so having only 20 stitches on the line/row at this point is exactly right.

How did you find the rest of the pattern? Were you able to follow it ok? Congrats on your first sock, BTW!! Hooray for you! I would love to see a picture when it is done! (i would have e-mailed to you privately, but could not get your addy through blogger)

All my best, Heatheryarnophiliachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01081042266486544795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-44578001797542997132006-11-14T18:36:00.000-05:002006-11-14T18:36:00.000-05:00Hi - I've chosen to knit this pattern as my first ...Hi - I've chosen to knit this pattern as my first ever sock (hopefully I'll make both of them). I've just got to the heel flap and there seems to maybe be an error in the pattern? You say to work across 28 stitches, but the first line only starts w/ 20 stitches and finishes w/ 18 (because of the k2tog). The other lines seem off as well: start w/ 9 (goes down to 7) - start w/ 10 (goes down to 8) - start w/ 11 (goes down to 9). Am I just well beyond tired and missing something here? Or is there actually an error? Thanks so much for a great looking pattern as I'm not one for wanting to make a stockinette sock even if it is my first.Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03259636511521618582noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-1160854771852901832006-10-14T14:39:00.000-05:002006-10-14T14:39:00.000-05:00Ok, I so want to make socks now...Ok, I so want to make socks now...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33218219.post-1160772265174667752006-10-13T15:44:00.000-05:002006-10-13T15:44:00.000-05:00Great sock!!!
